Manos – Hands

MUJER – MADRE – ABUELA – Las manos dicen todo de una persona, las manos del sufrimiento, del trabajo. Cuantos niños alzaron estas manos, cuantos llantos calmaron, cuantas veces velaron los sueños y cuantas veces lucharon. La historia de los Pilagá en Formosa, es la historia del sufrimiento y lucha de un pueblo que cree en la justicia y aun cree en ella. En un día como hoy, 12 de Octubre, que aunque intenten cambiar el nombre, no hay nada que festejar pero mucho para recordar. De todos modos, no nos vayamos muy lejos en la historia. Corría año 1947 y la etnia Pilagá sufría una de las atrocidades mas secretas que tuvo la historia Argentina. En honor a estas manos que aun viven y en honor a los mas de 500 que murieron en esa salvaje matanza en la provincia de Formosa.

Woman- Mother – Somebody´s hand can say a lot about a person. The hands of suffering, the hands of work. How many children these hands has held? How many tears they have washed away? How many dreams and how many fights? The story of the Pilagá Tribe in Argentina, Formosa Province is a story of suffering, cruelty and fights. October 12th we celebrate in Latin america one of the biggest killings in human kind to local natives occured 500 years ago. But let´s not go too far back in time. It was year 1947 Argentina has gone through one of the secret killings of human being, not widely known. The Pilagá tribe suffered the killing and hunger of their people. These hands are still alive, in its honour and in the name of more than 500 pilagá natives killed in Formosa province, NE of Argentina. Cruelty cannot be silenced. A photo in their name.
